Uncle Shane...sharing his love and passion...

My girlfriend Shannon shared these pictures with me and I just loved them.  We had our Annual Aggie Roommate Reunion this past month and had everyone over for brunch on Sunday at our house.  Briley (Shannon's daughter) caught her FIRST fish in our pond with Uncle Shane's help.  It was so cute and of course Shane loved it more than Briley I think!  I can't wait until the girls are old enough to have these kind of firsts with their Daddy!

Camo and Prunes?

The girls sported their Camo outfits the other day.  Last time I tried them on them they really did hide in them as they were WAY too big.  They are just the right size now..and although it's not any type of hunting season...Daddy figured we better sport them before we outgrow them!   I think Ashlee might be the one that goes with Daddy ...as she is already working on her duck calling.  Seriously...her and Daddy communicate in this very strange bird language...while Brooke and I just look on and laugh about it!  Shane said Ashlee has the "double cluck" down...which I understand is challenging...but still clueless on what it actually is!

I got a few pics of them in their Cute Cabela Camo attire, as they were experimenting with prunes.  They really need the prunes (or Ashlee does) and it was time to try them.  After all...we have had pears, peas, green beans, carrots, squash, apples, etc.   So diversified now in our diet!  The prunes were a success...in more ways than one and the girls loved them.

Ashlee....Lil' Miss Mini-Me Shane

It's crazy to me how much Ashlee looks like her Daddy!  Really...and it's not just the big bald head! Good thing Shane makes a cute girl! (Don't tell him I said that!)

Below are a few cute pictures of the 2 of them...one where Daddy gave Ashlee a small taste of her first snowcone...and the other when they were both kickin' back in the lazy boy!

Brooke and her books...

Our Nanny has story time every morning with the girls and I try to read to them on the weekends.  I have noticed that Brooke really tends to like the books more than Ashlee.  I thought the following pictures were too cute to not share!   The girls are SO close to sitting really good.  Right now they sit up for a few minutes..but eventually flop over.  It's so hard to believe how fast they are growing...they'll be reading before I know it!

Six Month Stats...

I can not believe that the  twincesses were 6 months old this past Saturday!!  Just doesn't seem possible!
They are doing well and growing like crazy.  They had a big day on Saturday to celebrate their 6 month birthday.  They went to doctor on Monday for checkups and shots (boo)..and all was well.

ASHLEE = 26 3/4"  tall  /   16lb 10oz
BROOKE = 27"  tall  /   14lb 13 oz

Their present from Mommy and Daddy were sippy cups!!  I put a little water in them and they were not too interested....so then I added ice...and WOW...all of a sudden they were great!!  I think Brooke just liked to shake her's and make noise.  Ashlee really latched on and realized it had something to drink inside...of course she holds her bottle pretty good...while Princess Brooke likes it held for her.  : )  As you can see from the pictures...sippy cups are hard work!

We went to eat dinner with Nana and Poppy at Via Real (our special celebration restaurant...note the yummy giant margarita!).  The girls got to eat carrots for the first time while sitting in big girl high chairs!!  They loved the orange mush.....but I do not think the carrots were very friendly to the girls.  (different story!).   They also had green beans...which they REALLY love!   Plus..as bonus...they got to see their "Uncle Diego!" (one of our favorite waiters!)

The girls are sweet and really recognizing each other. It's so fun to watch them change and grow.  Oh...talked to Granny and Poppy Cows...and they are getting them a tree-swing for their 6 month bday!!  Can't wait to get it!!!

Enjoying our new residents...

Besides the fish, turtles, occasional water snake, and 3 ducks that call our pond home...we have 9 new residents.  Not sure if they are just stopping by...or how long they will call our place home..but they are kind of fun to watch.  We had 4 come by a week ago...they stayed a few hours and flew off.  Must have been the "scouts!"   Yesterday we had the 9 show up and they stayed the night.  Regardless of their length of stay.....we are enjoying watching them swim and enjoy the pond...even Gus and Brooke!

"If your happy and you know it show your teeth..."

Ashlee officially has pearly whites!  Both of her front teeth have broken the surface.  I don't want to jinx myself...but if it was not for the mass amount of drool and gumming on everything, you would have never know that little child was teething.  She remained happy and smiling through the entire process...even though I must say there were days when her poor lil' gums looked so painful.

Brooke doesn't have any poking up yet...and I don't see any looking like they are on the way...but I have a sneaking suspicion that she will not be so happy about it all!

SMILE!  It's Friday!!!

There was a little turtle....

THERE WAS A LITTLE TURTLE

There was a little turtle

Who lived in a box.

He swam in puddles

And climbed on rocks.

He snapped at the mosquito,

He snapped at the flea.

He snapped at the minnow,

And he snapped at me.

He caught the mosquito,

He caught the flea.

He caught the minnow,

But he didn't catch me!

We have a turtle problem in our pond..major over-population.  I am talking hundreds.

While Shane first enjoyed picking them off one by one...we discovered that that was stinky solution...literally.

Therefore Shane went and purchased a turtle trap.  At first I was skeptical...I must admit.  However, in the last week and half we have trapped 116 turtles!!  It's insane!  I tell you....over population problem.  I swear turtles are the new "rabbits"..if you get my drift.

Needless to say that trap has been a success to our problem and this way the turtles get to "live"..just not in our pond..eating our fish. Shane pulled this little guy out of the trap the other night and brought it in to show me.  If he would stay that small and not stink..I'd keep him.  I was SO tempted...but said good bye!  What a lil' cutie!!

Green Beans are "berry" good!!

The girls got their first taste of baby food the other day.  I started with Green Beans..thinking if they eat those...they'll eat anything.  Man...they LOVED them!!  They were so funny...waving arms, licking lips, squelching...just very excited about the mashed green goodness!!   Mommy is loving them b/c the fiber seems to be helping lil' Ashlee...no explanation needed!

Tribute to Mimi....

Children, honor your nanny, and respect the work they do...
They aren't in it for the money, they are there for the love of you.

This quote could not be more true of our AWESOME Nanny!

Mrs. BC (aka Mimi) is the best Nanny in the world.  We are so blessed to have her take care of the girls each weekday.  While sometimes we have to get on to her for spoiling them too much.....we know that she does it because she loves them so!!  Every morning she stands outside waiting for us to pull in to drop them off.  Every Friday I think she is going to shed a tear when they leave.  She reads to them, plays on the floor with them, hugs and kisses on them, prays for them, and really cares for them like her own grandbabies (hence the spoiling!)   She loves her job and tells me every day that they girls are a blessing..to not just Shane and I...but to her.  What a sincere and incredible woman!  Thank you BC for all the love you give my girls.

Every day it's something new

It seems that the girls do something new every day!  Below are a few snaps I took over the weekend.... I foresee mobility very soon in our future...

Ashlee rolled over 2 times (with shoes on.).  It hasn't become "routine" or habit like it did when Brooke learned....but she did finally make it over that big shoulder!!  Once she is on her belly she is happy and shows her strength.  I think she actually might crawl before Sissy once she gets it. If you look closely...you can see her tooth!  She has one that has broken thru on the bottom and the one next to it is very close!  Thankfully she is happy and not too fussy...just a drool machine!!

Brooke LOVES her puppies.  Here Gus is enjoying getting a little baby lovin'!  We are teaching the girls to gently pet the dogs (haha).  When they come up to the girls they are starting to reach their lil' hands out for them. It's too cute.  Gus loves it....Jake isn't too fond of it right now.

Although Brooke can't go anywhere fast yet...it's not going to be long.  She flips in her bouncy chair and attempts to wiggle out of it.  Here she is displaying one of her moves before a dismount.  Mommy has learned if I go out of the room I better strap them in.

Rock N Roll ???

As some of you know, Brooke has mastered the rolling.  She rolled over "back to belly" about a month ago and no longer gets mad once she does it.  She is even flipping at night and sleeping on her belly....which is so cute when I wake her up in the mornings.

Now Ashlee...a bit handicapped with the bar and shoes...has ALMOST got the roll.  She rocks and grunts and tries so hard!!  I help her sometimes and she just smiles...but even when she doesn't succeed...she smiles (as seen in pic below)!  I know she will get it very soon...in the mean time..she'll just keep "rockin'!"  Brooke actually rolled for the first time when we were visiting Granny and Poppy Cows (my parents).  They are coming up today for the weekend...so just maybe they are good luck and Ashlee will perform for them!!

Rockin....

Almost got it...this shoulder is just in the way!!

Defeated...but still VERY happy with my efforts!

So this is what a spoon is for......

The girls have been doing great with their cereal.  They LOVE it and I am sure they are ready for something much more exciting in a few weeks...like peas!  Mommy tried the cereal...brown rice...really isn't that bad.  Not sure I will be as brave as to try those mushy veggies..

I gave the girls their spoons the other day .. to see what they would do with them.  It was entertaining to watch them explore the instrument!  I was quite impressed they went straight for their mouths (of course now days MOST objects go straight to their mouths!!).  Ashlee was a little bolder with her's....she managed to massage her face with the spoon...eyes...ears..you name it!  Brooke thought it was just fun to wave it around.

Bring on the vegetables....can't wait to document that!  (Of course Gus .. our lab...is already figuring out that under the high chair is not a bad place to hang out!)
