Family Reunion Fun!

This past weekend we had our annual Krenek family reunion (my Mom's side of the famiy).  It's always so fun to get together with our Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins...and ALL the kiddos that come along!! :)

This year the reunion was in Katy at one of my cousins house....which worked out GREAT since she had a pool and it was SO hot!!

They girls had their FIRST swim experience and LOVED it!  I will say that Ashlee was a tad more excited about it than Brooke...but they both were happy babies.  Shane could not make it...so thank you Poppy Cows and Uncle Glen for swimming with us!!  I guess I am going to have to be on look out for swim lesson locations now....

We also had our FIRST taste of watermelon.....the rinds made pretty good teethers! Cold and juicy!  :)

It was great to see the Krenek Klan...can't wait until next year!!

Sitting pretty...

The girls are sitting well now on their own and LOVE playing with their toys.  We still have a few wobbles and the occasion head bump on the floor...but overall we are doing well.  They can't get to sitting position yet by themselves...but I don't think that will be very long from on now.

Pardon the naked babies...I know it looks very "red neck"...but the triple digit heat is killing us..and we had just gotten in from throwing the ball with our puppies!

6 month pictures....better late than never!

Nana and I FINALLY took the girls to get "professional" (well...Portrait Innovation) pictures.  They were supposed to be 6 month pictures...but the girls are actually just shy of 7 months when they were taken!

They did pretty good...but of course smiled big and laughed before and after the outing!  Mommy and Nana were tired afterwards...and are resting up for the next round in 5 more short months!

"Just a swingin'..."

Poppy Cows and Granny bought the girls swings for their "6 month" birthday!  I ordered them and had them shipped...and must confess we have had for a week or so.  It has just been TOO hot to hang them lately!

However, we decided to put them up this past weekend when they were visiting.  The girls have used them a few evenings already and love them!! (These pictures don't capture the smiles...b/c it was their first swing and we woke them up to try them out...could not help it!  I think Ashlee is about to fall asleep again!)  I foresee us getting a lot of use out of them when the weather gets a bit more tolerable.

Thank you Poppy Cows and Granny for the fun swings!!

Happy Birthday to Gigi.....SURPRISE VISIT!

I got a call from Mom and Dad (Nuinez) this week that they wanted to come up Friday for the afternoon/evening and then were going to leave Saturday around lunch.  It was going to be a very quick overnight trip..but the main reason was that they had a calf processed and it was ready.  They were nice enough to be giving us 1/3 of the ground meat...(THANK YOU THANK YOU!).   This will definitely save us some $ this year...as our freezer is now stocked and I am ready to be creative with ground beef recipes (so if you know any non-traditional ones..send my way!).

They BEST surprise was that Gigi (my grandmother) informed that that she wanted to come up with them!!  Friday was her bday and she wanted to come up to North Texas to visit, see our place, and of course love on her Great Grandbabies!  I was SO excited she was going to come up and celebrate her 88th with us!!  It was also a great excuse for Shane to go crappie fishing during the week so we could have some YUMMY fried fish for birthday dinner!!  It was also a good excuse for us to have brownies and blue bell!!

We really enjoyed her visit and celebrating with her.  It was great for her to see our new place that we are loving to call "home!"

Happy Birthday GiGi!   We love you!!!!

PLEASE.....NO PEAS MOM!!!!

The girls have finally been through all the "stage 1" foods and are able to eat a variety...which I am sure they enjoy.  Their favorite veggie appears to be Green Beans and Sweet Potatoes...  Favorite fruit is Prunes or Pears...   They are not too fond of Carrots....but eat them with no fuss....they just don' t shake their hands and inhale them!

PEAS....that's a complete different story.  They hate them, especially Brooke!  I have to hide (mix) them...easiest in Green Beans..so i call them "Camo Peas!"   Still not their favorite.  Here they were last night as we were getting toward the bottom of the container...I had to snap pics...b/c it was so funny.  It's like they were begging me....of course they were really sleepy which led to crankiness!

Gus...the forever guardian..."We love our Gussy!! "

Gus is quite the guardian of the girls.  He has been from Day One...and continues to be.  He loves the girls and the girls just love him..of course they love Jake too...but I don't think it's quite as mutual!  : )    Ashlee and Brooke just glow when their puppies walk in the room and they see them.  It's so funny to see them smile and laugh.  Of course...Gus doesn't mind the attention...and any food that might be left behind.  He's always where they are.  I posted a few pictures below..some I have posted before..but wanted to share again!

We love our Gussy!!

Gus...playing with the girls.

Getting some Gussy kisses.

Always has one eye on the girls..and one on you.

Well..ALMOST always.  A dog has to sleep sometime...

Getting a little lovin'

Presents from Alaska! - Thanks Nana and Poppy!

Nana and Poppy went on a cruise to Alaska and brought the girls back the best gifts!  A very cute and cool book and 2 sippy cups!  The girls loved the presents...and Mommy loved that they were practical!!  Thanks for being so thoughtful Nana and Poppy!!

Already fighting over the keys...

The girls LOVE their keys.
It's amazing how you can spend all sorts of $ and get all sort of exciting toys...
yet they love the plastic $1 keys.

Bedtime Stories....all by ourselves!

I snapped these the other night when I was watching the girls by myself.  I read them a quick story..and then gave them each one of their lil' books to play with.

Brooke really does love them...looks at the pictures and tries to flip the pages.

It looks like Ashlee is examining the book and pictures...but she was really just trying to scheme how to put the put on her head!

They are so different and so funny!
